This service is intended for members of
WestGrid
- Install the NLANR Beacon 0.9 from
NLANR
- Edit beacon.conf:
- GROUP = 233.1.15.171
- PORT = 10012 (changed!)
- CENTRALSERVERNAME = ag.triumf.ca
- CONTACTNAME = (your name)
- CONTACTINFO = (your info)
- delete "STOPME"
(233.1.15.171 is an AS271 RFC2770 address for BC.net)
- Start the beacon as ./beacon.pl
- For autostart on Linux (RedHat-style):
- Edit and copy nlanr-beacon.init
to /etc/rc.d/init.d/nlanr-beacon
- Create a user beacon (no need to run as root)
- Execute "chkconfig nlanr-beacon on"
- For convenient access to the local results, place in a Web directory
Network Load
The full AG beacon service with about
80 members seems to run about 1-2Mbps. So I expect this to run about 10kbps/member - maybe
100kpbs
